About Jesse Kane

As a Mechanical Engineering and Computer-Aided Drafting and Design student, I bring a diverse set of skills and experiences to any team or project. With five years of experience in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Craftsman, I managed a wide range of operations, projects, and services for military equipment worth over $34M. My expertise in utilizing manufacturing and federal government technical orders to inspect, operate, and repair equipment produced by 50+ different companies and contractors makes me an asset to any engineering team. In addition, I have demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills, supervising and coordinating the activities of 25+ mechanics, installers, and repairers for three years. Currently, I am the Vice President of Valencia College's VA Mentorship Program, where I am leading the charge to increase support and resources for student veterans' integration, resulting in a projected 40% boost in graduation rates according to local and Federal projections. Furthermore, I am highly skilled in project management, leadership, and communication, which I have honed throughout my career. I possess a strong sense of discipline, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving instilled in me by my time in the military. As a veteran, I am passionate about serving my community and making a positive impact on the lives of others. As Vice President of the VA Peer to Peer Mentorship Program, I help fellow student veterans transition from military to civilian life and achieve their academic and career goals. I am also an active member of various veteran service organizations and regularly volunteer my time and skills to support my fellow veterans. Going forward, I am eager to continue growing my skills and knowledge in mechanical engineering and computer-aided drafting and design, with a focus on emerging technologies like 3D printing and automation. I am excited to explore new opportunities to apply my leadership and project management skills to complex engineering projects and make a positive impact in my community.
