About Jesse King

Immense personal privilege has allowed me to make the promise to my spouse/partner and family that I will choose only to work with nice people. It is important to know that experience has brought me to the understanding that I am not an expert in the consulting services listed below. Rather, I consider myself a very good student and a helpful study partner. As a Padawan learner I am often humbled and sometimes delighted by those moments when my thinking is not as agile or open to new ideas as aspiration dictates or reality requires. Jesse King consults in the arenas of leadership, organizational development, philanthropy. His work in the non-profit sector includes work for the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Children’s Defense Fund, the Ford Foundation, the Irvine Foundation, The Black Community Crusade for Children, and the Center for Creative Leadership. In the public sector, he worked as an adjunct trainer with the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management. His experience in the private sector includes six years on the board of directors of a telecommunications company (Net2Phone) and eight years on the board of a national outdoor gear and apparel retailer (REI). Most recently Mr. King served as the Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for the Daniels Fund. Prior to that he served as a manager at the Rockefeller Foundation with a portfolio focused on the development and engagement of promising social entrepreneurs and emerging philanthropists. Mr. King is active in the Colorado community, currently serving on the board of the Colorado Inclusive Economy and the Bonfils Stanton Foundation. Past service includes the Denver Public School Commission for High School Reform and the boards of the Denver Community Foundation and the Chinook Fund. His national community service included board service for the Funders for LGBTQ Issues, chairperson of the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, and as chairperson of the Unitarian Universalist Ministerial Fellowship Committee. And with great joy, he has been invited to serve as an Ambassador for Icelantic Skis. Mr. King is the founder and Chief Leverage Strategist for Fulcrum Advisors LLC, a consulting firm that provides leadership development, executive coaching, inclusion/belonging explorations, restructuring, and board governance services to organizations and teams in the private, public, and independent sectors.
