About Jesse McDicken

After obtaining my degree from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, I started my career with the USDA Forest Service. There I have and am continuing to build my skills in various disciplines such as recreation, fire, and timber management. Currently, I work as a Workforce & Recruitment Specialist striving to provide assistance and guidance to anyone who might have an interest in working with the Forest Service and land management. Our Regions 08 & 09 of the Forest Service are positioned well to recruit a workforce that reflects the population we serve. Covering thirty-three states, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico we have a rich variety of cultural backgrounds and experiences nurtured by educational institutions like 1862, 1890, 1994 Land Grant Institutions, and Job Corps Centers that groom natural resource professionals. Our collective success of bringing in high-quality talent will be a result of 1.) actively recruiting from external sources that provide a well-trained talent pool, 2.) regional investments in partner programs designed to meet capacity needs with a focus on succession planning, and 3.) leaders throughout the regions mentoring and hiring the talented individuals progressing through these programs. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you think I could ever be of any assistance.
