About Jesse Michael

A problem-solver at heart, I love getting into science, numbers and technical analysis. A passion for learning and pride for delivering quality work reflects in my results in academia and the workplace. I have recently graduated from my Master's in Biomedical Engineering (with Excellence) which included a thesis with the Medical Devices team at the Heart Research Institute. I had the pleasure of getting involved with a lot awesome societies during my time at UNSW; I was the industry rep for the Society of Medical Innovation, postgraduate representative for Biomedical Engineering Student Society, and Arc Delegate for Campus Runners. I am proud to have been in the winning team for the BESSxCorin Hackathon. In my undergraduate I studied Materials Engineering at UWA where I discovered a love for nanotechnology and microscopy. I was lucky to have interned with the prestigious INTECSEA, working on materials selection for subsea structures and the analysis of corrosion in oil & gas pipelines. I am currently advancing my studies into the realm of analytical biochemistry, as a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong. In the Mass Spectrometry Imaging laboratory I'm working with state of the art instruments and novel technologies and bioinformatics workflows with the aim to conduct lipidomics/metabolomics investigations with great sensitivity and structural and spatial detail.
