About Jesse Parr

I am a theatre artist, educator, and visual designer and editor. I have pursued careers in both storytelling and education for communities, high schools, and collegiate environments. I am currently a 7th Grade ELAR teacher at Kimbrough MS with Mesquite ISD. I am the Destination Imagination coordinator and the unofficial "Harry Potter" teacher of Kimbrough. I taught with Minarets High School for a little over three years professionally and over four years voluntarily. I created my own pedagogy for both theatre performance and English literature. I pull from the Meisner Technique, Chekhovian movement, and Linklater vocal training to create my own pedagogy for theatrical performances. I focus on film, theatre, and English literature to combine the three in the classroom; I use them to teach social movements, history, storytelling and structure, literature, and individualistic voice for my students. I have been working all sides of theatre for well over a decade now: playwrighting, directing, acting, stage combat, and designing. I usually prefer pursuing original content and being a part of the collaborative process of creating something new to produce.
