As a Civil Engineering Technologist (Municipal) for Norfolk County, I provide comprehensive project support for the design, implementation, and inspection of municipal infrastructure projects. My expertise spans pre-engineering, design, construction administration, and quality assurance, with a strong focus on inspection to ensure compliance with corporate standards, municipal and provincial OPSD specifications, and safety regulations. I play a key role in defining project scope and requirements while preparing, reviewing, and administering procurement documents, including tenders, quotes, and cost estimates. I collaborate with project managers to oversee consultant work, manage contracts, and ensure adherence to all aspects of the tendering process—from preparation and advertisement to closing, award, and Council approval. My responsibilities include technical reviews of engineering designs, site inspections, and ensuring construction compliance with health and safety standards. I also conduct inspections of capital projects and development right-of-way (ROW) construction, ensuring adherence to municipal and provincial standards while maintaining a safe and efficient worksite. With a strong focus on construction methods, quality assurance, and cost-effective solutions, I coordinate traffic studies, manage pavement marking and signage programs, and utilize survey equipment to collect accurate field data. Through effective contract administration and strategic problem-solving, I contribute to the enhancement of municipal infrastructure, public safety, and long-term community sustainability.
