About Jesse Ramirez

About Jesse proudly comes from a Mexican immigrant family being raised in Los Angeles, Orange, and Kern County, CA. He earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. Jesse is a registered associate clinical social worker in California (ASW He has over 10 years experience in the social work field. Research Grounded in socio-ecological systems theory (Brefrenbrenner, 1977, 1979), Jesse’s scholarly and clinical commitments focus on (1) enhancing individual, family, and community well-being, with emphasis on Latinx immigrants and communities of color impacted by adverse health conditions, disease, incarceration, and immigration enforcement and;(2) improving the accessibility of top-tier, culturally affirming, and trauma-informed interventions and programs. His graduate thesis in social work was a qualitative phenomenological study that explored how Latinx immigrants (n = 8) experienced, adjusted, and coped with a driving under the influence (DUI) conviction in Southern California. Art Jesse Ramirez is a Chicano self-taught multimedia artist, working primarily in digital art. His art is influenced by his clinical experience combined with his lived experiences with family deportation and growing up in a Mexican immigrant household. In 2023, he was honored by the Arts Council of Kern County and was awarded the Artists & Creatives Grant by Community Engagement for his public art series on DUIs. Jesse’s art has been displayed at various cultural enrichment shops and galleries such as The Mexican Consulate of Los Angeles, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, Gallery Azul, The Brand Library & Art Center, the Irvine Fine Arts Center, the Lancaster Museum of Art and History, Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural, Stola Contemporary Art Gallery in Chicago, and The Mills Pond Gallery in St. James, New York, to name a few.
