Background

About Jesse Rupe

Hello! I find myself gravitating toward a variety of things, really anything that provides an opportunity to learn. In doing so, I regularly seek opportunities to learn from others as I am often surrounded by people far more intelligent and with more years of expertise than myself. I enjoy any excuse in my work to do some writing. Things like Design Documents and note taking provide a unique experience to really learn from and understand other people. Along those lines, I also prefer to work with a team in order to provide a bigger impact. Solo projects can be great, but the things you can accomplish with a team are immeasurable. I thrive in chaos! I constantly seek new problems to solve and new things to learn that will help me have the biggest impact for both my team / co-workers and for the business. As a result, I am frequently given odd tasks and projects of the "run the business" variety. It's sort of just how my brain works - randomness rules! In my personal life, my #1 passion is any and all things games. Video games, board games, card games, puzzles, you name it. I love playing games with my wife, friends, and co-workers - especially opportunities to show people games they may not have found or been interested in otherwise. Even more so than playing games, I LOVE studying games. Studying the history of games, the design of games, and the business industry of games all fascinate me. Games provide such a special purpose in our world to bring people together and escape into a fantasy land. Think of the last board game you played. You know that rulebook you followed? Why did you follow it? Nobody forced you to, not even the people you played it with. Yet you still followed them - or maybe even bent them slightly for fun! But what drove you to do all that? Play with a bunch of small objects and pretend they were bound by some ethereal ruleset? Was it fun? Satisfying? Did it make for a good bonding experience? No matter the answer, I believe it to be some part of the human experience to seek out games. They provide something we may never truly understand. I wish for nothing more than to bury myself in this world of games as it is an endless space of possibilities and wonder! I tend to write a lot if you made it this far, thanks for reading! I appreciate you taking even a small part of life to bother reading my little blurb on the internet!
