About Jesse Stern

Research- I do research on a broad range of problem in cryptography, combinatorics, and computational complexity. I am particularly interested in tiling and interpoint distance related problems. This includes basic mathematical problems related to these topics, as well as application to cryptography such as for cloud database security. I have also worked on research on the security of specific cryptocurrency-Interests- Both in and outside of work, I greatly enjoy problem solving, games, and puzzles. I enjoy not only finding the solutions, but digging deeper and understanding the efficiency of one solution compared to another and the structure of the problem as a whole. In work, this manifests in selecting complex problems to study as well as studying multiple paths to success and comparing their merits. in terms of hobbies, I greatly enjoy turn-based strategy games and regularly serve as a design consultant and playtester for such games (both as video games and board games).
