About Jesse Wood

I’m a huge people-person and I’d spent many years of my career in supportive roles because I get a lot of personal value and motivation from supporting others but after some serendipitous events, I was reluctantly put into leadership roles. I’d never thought of myself as a leader and the idea made me feel inadequate at first, but my former employer pointed out to me that supporting others is what leaders really do. After quite a bit of career-experimenting I landed a project management position where I immediately identified problems not just in my department but company wide. Our company wasn’t identifying let alone anticipating trends, all the processes in place were reactive rather than proactive. In the first two months, I’d spent all of my free time researching process mapping and design, supply chain management, and Lean & Six Sigma principles. I conducted cost-benefit analyses on company-wide systems and presented my ideas. Within the first three months, the owner told me I’d already done more for the company than anyone else before me. Within my first year, I took on so many roles beyond PM that I was second only to the owner in responsibility and decision-making. So you can see I’m a self-starter who lives and breathes process improvement. I have a proven track record in operations and project management. I’m passionate about the continual betterment of processes, relationships, myself, and those around me. When people say “because that’s the way we’ve always done it…” -That’s my white whale. It’s the bit of blubber just above the surface of the water that tells me “there’s probably room for improvement somewhere down there”.
