About Jessica Bamforth
Determining where one wants to be in life is one of the hardest tasks some people will ever face. I can safely say that I have found where I belong, and that place is the classroom. I knew from a young age that I was interested in English but I had little idea how that interest would help create the person I am today. I started in this field very naïvely. I thought I would be able to reach and inspire every student I came in contact with. Realizing that this task was impossible has helped shape me and the values that I needed to truly be a successful educator. I can now say that I approach each student and situation with an open mind and open heart. I know that I will have more success on some days and less on others. Learning to accept this has helped me see the world through a student’s eyes. Every day is not always great for them or me but and we have learned together to take each experience, good or bad, and become better people because of them. The power of reflection has truly helped me convey this life lesson to myself and to my students.
