About Jessica Devries

I am a research and program development leader with expertise in healthcare regulation, transit, and community engagement. For over a decade at Pivotal Research, I’ve helped organizations turn complex data into clear, actionable insights. Whether leading regulatory feedback programs in healthcare, designing rider experience studies for transit authorities, or supporting community-driven initiatives, my focus is on delivering research that informs decisions and drives meaningful change. I began my academic path in the sciences, earning a BSc in Mathematics and Biological Sciences, which strengthened my analytical foundation. Building on this, I pursued a MA in Community Engagement through the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta, where I focused on applying research to complex social issues. My graduate work explored how women who have experienced federal incarceration define success after prison — a project inspired by my volunteer work with The Mustard Seed’s Open Door Program. This continues to shape my perspective on equity, re-integration, and the role of research in driving systemic improvement. In addition to my role at Pivotal, I volunteer as an advisor with Duologue Systems, contributing my expertise in research operations, measurement, and evaluation to support the implementation of an AI-based tool for the justice system ecosystem. I’m energized by opportunities to collaborate with industry leaders, regulators, and community organizations, continually seeking ways to use research to inform decisions and improve outcomes for the people and communities they serve.
