About Jessica Kent

I am an MSc Economics: Development Economics graduate from the University of Exeter, also with a First Class Honours BSc Economics and Politics degree from the University of Exeter. I have a strong foundation in both micro- and macroeconomics, public policy and finance, and environmental economics and sustainability and experience synthesising information for an expert and non-expert audience communicated both verbally and in writing. My time at University has made me resilient and a problem solver in the face of obstacles through a multitude of independent projects, particuarly those utilising Econometrics and R. Various group projects also mean that I understand the importance of collaboration to effciently create a desired outcome. Furthermore, my experience in the customer service industry has equipped me with the ability to deliver a high quality service in a fast-paced environment, intergrate within multiple teams, and administrative skills such as managing an inbox, booking system and paperwork. My ability to time-manage and organise and a strong work ethic are demonstrated by undertaking these roles alongside my studies. The role of Duty Manager has allowed me to diversify my skills further through the delegation of tasks, management of customer relations and taking responsibility for the operation of a building. My passion for politics is also shown through undertaking optional work experience in a Local Council office and by running for Youth Member of Parliament, both gave me valuable insights into the UK politcal system at a local and national level. I am grateful for all my experiences and am keen to pair my academic and practical background to contribute to a new team.
