About Jessica Matthys

With extensive experience in user services, program development, and team leadership across academic and public library environments, I am driven by a commitment to community engagement, accessibility, and digital literacy. Currently, as an Information Services Assistant in Outreach and User Services at Cardinal Carter Library, King’s University College, I oversee public services ranging from instructional support to technical troubleshooting and collection management. Mentoring our Work Study and Student Library Assistant teams has deepened my passion for building collaborative, motivated teams that enrich library user experiences. My career has been shaped by a focus on creating meaningful, intergenerational programs that meet diverse community needs. From leading digital literacy initiatives to driving social media engagement, I aim to make library spaces—both online and in-person—accessible, inclusive, and impactful. In addition to hands-on experience, I bring strong strategic planning and project management skills. Recently, I led a communication and outreach realignment project at Cardinal Carter Library, ensuring our services align with community needs and the library's mission. Staying attuned to emerging library trends and technologies, I am dedicated to enhancing service quality and accessibility through tools like integrated library systems and Makerspace technology. Currently completing my MLIS, I am passionate about fostering a welcoming, accessible library environment where every patron has a positive experience.
