About Jessica Simon

As Visual Arts teacher- responsible for curriculum development in our department, as well as designing, implementing and reviewing our programs and assessments from Years 7 – 12- excellent knowledge of our NSW Curriculum and am up to date with the current reviews occurring with NESA- deliver excellence in 2D, 3D and 4D artmaking, using a range of techniques and materials. As Learning Innovation Coach- experienced in collaborating, leading and supporting colleagues to deliver excellence in their teaching practice- work with a range of stakeholders in the College- deliver coaching and professional learning to teachers at a range of stages in their careers. In the classroom- I am passionate about modelling quality teaching and learning practices with an emphasis on critical and creative thinking skills. I often employ Harvard Visible Thinking routines to challenge the independent learner which also encourages wonder and questioning. For my students, I am passionate about making Visual Arts relevant to the real world, driving purpose in the classroom and developing an interest in the lifelong pursuit of learning. Making sophisticated artworks using a range of techniques and materials is central to my studio environment as well as deeply understanding the historical and critical connections and concepts in Visual Arts.
