About Jessie Menkens

Jessie Menkens has worked in Alaska’s nonprofit sector throughout her career, focusing on public policy, philanthropy and community building. Jessie worked at Thread, Alaska’s early care and education referral network and the Alaska Community Foundation before joining the Alaska Primary Care Association in 2014. Jessie then managed a statewide Navigator program, overseeing a team of enrollment professionals, managing public outreach campaigns, and acting as a spokesperson for coverage initiatives in Alaska. In her personal time, Jessie has helped create nonpartisan citizen coalitions to support high-quality public education, and successfully helped achieve Medicaid expansion in Alaska. She now serves as the Government & External Affairs Director at APCA. Jessie also serves as the Coalition Manager for Alaskans Together for Medicaid, a nonpartisan initiative. Jessie educates state and federal officials about the unique and important role health centers play in Alaska’s health care system, opportunities to increase access to care, and the value of Medicaid and other safety net programs.
