About Jessie Ostrum

I’m a Structural Engineer with specialized experience in the areas of façade restoration, historic renovation, and sustainable design. I'm licensed P.E.(Structural II) working as a Structural Project Manager for Engineering Ventures, PC and am well versed in the design and detailing of heavy timber, lumber, manufactured wood, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry. My project experience ranges from the renovation of existing buildings to the design of new ones; from high-end single family homes to commercial institutions. Though I consider Vermont to be my home-state, I spent much of my childhood in suburban Connecticut and in New York City – a circumstance that's given me unique perspectives on both sustainability in urban environments and innovation in traditionally rural settings. My degree is in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont (’15), but my professional background has influence from the engineering-adjacent industries of both construction and architecture. Before moving back to VT and getting my P.E. license, I worked as a Senior Project Representative with Hoffmann Architects, Inc. in NYC where I developed an appreciation for façade rehabilitation, historic restoration, and building envelope standards. In college, I worked as an office engineer for PC Construction which exposed me to the world of construction phasing, coordination, and management in both new building construction and historic restoration. Thanks to my experience, I’ve become versed in the construction industry – whether that be from the viewpoint as a project engineer, project architect, or construction manager (I’ve had experience in all three). I have a strong work ethic and I am constantly exposed to the awards and consequence of genuine effort and diligence. I am accountable, independent, reliable and punctual, and I love a good challenge. While I’m not working, I’m an enthusiastic athlete who loves the outdoors. I also teach fitness classes multiple times a week at a local gym. I consider my community involvement to be paramount and I spend my free time giving back by volunteering and mentoring. I love being a leader and never shy from taking on responsibilities! I like to stay busy, but I always make sure to find a balance between work, health, and fun!
