As an Executive Director of the unLIMBited Foundation, my professional journey has been deeply rooted in making a difference in the lives of pediatric patients and their families. With a background of over 8 years as a Certified Child Life Specialist and Patient Navigator, I've dedicated myself to providing psychosocial support to those facing challenges within the healthcare system. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting patients from all corners of the globe, helping them access essential limb-saving and life-changing medical care in West Palm Beach, FL. From navigating the complexities of rare orthopedic conditions and extremely rare diseases to connecting families with vital community resources, I've strived to be a source of guidance and support during their healthcare journeys. In my current role as the Executive Director of the unLIMBited Foundation, my passion for helping families has found a new outlet. By advocating for continued medical education among surgeons and medical professionals worldwide, we aim to spread knowledge about advanced techniques in rare orthopedic conditions. Additionally, our foundation runs a financial aid program that locates safe and supportive housing for families while their child undergoes medical care. Drawing from my experiences as a Child Life Specialist in oncology and surgery, I firmly believe in the importance of supporting families beyond the clinical setting. Whether it's connecting them with resources, advocating for their children, or creating opportunities for them to make cherished memories during their healthcare journey, I strive to relieve as much stress as possible so families can focus on what truly matters—the well-being of their child. I am grateful for the opportunities I've had to present at conferences, such as the 14th Annual A.M.C.S.I. Conference and the Texas Association of Child Life Professionals Conference. These experiences have allowed me to share insights into psychosocial support for pediatric patients with limb differences, furthering my commitment to improving the quality of care.
