About Jia Guo

I am passionate about advancing the field of assessment and evaluation, especially in understanding the test influence on learners and their parents from sociocultural perspective. I am currently a Graduate Research Strategy Intern at Queen's University, where I assist the Associate Deans with developing a strategy for increasing graduate-level research opportunities within the Faculty of Arts and Science. Obtaining my PhD degree in Educational Assessment, Testing, and Measurement at Queen's University, I have conducted and presented research on various aspects of language assessment, such as test uses and consequences, test validity, and test impact from a sociocultural perspective. I have also been involved in qualitative research on immigrant soldiers' stories as a Research Assistant at the Royal Military College of Canada, collaborating on data analysis and research papers. Additionally, I have teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Fellow and as an English and Chinese teacher in China and France. My language skills include native fluency in Mandarin Chinese, advanced proficiency in English, and intermediate proficiency in French.
