About Jia Yu Wu

I'm an Economics major and Computer Science minor at NYU with a growing passion for data analytics and how data-driven insights can solve real-world business challenges. Through my coursework and hands-on experience with statistics and data analytics, I've developed a strong foundation in economic theory, statistical analysis, and data visualization. My part-time roles at a jewelry store and a hardware store have given me valuable, data-relevant experience. In these positions, I regularly tracked sales trends, monitored inventory levels, and observed customer behavior patterns, which sparked my interest in using data to optimize operations and improve a company's performance. Furthermore, as a Treasurer for NYU Liberal Studies Student Council, I’ve managed budgets, forecasted expenses, and built spreadsheets to track financial activities. My experiences have allowed me to think in terms of margins, patterns, and trends. From managing budgets, analyzing spending, and using spreadsheets to make data-backed financial decisions, my goal is to blend my academic knowledge of statistics and computer science into a data analytics world, where I can continue learning and gain real-world exposure to consumer behavior, pricing strategies, and inventory trends through financial data analytics, risk analysis, or business intelligence.
