Background
About Jim Casper
In 2004, I launched LensCulture (lensculture.com), which has since grown to become one of the most popular online destinations to discover the best in global contemporary photography as it is used in art, media, politics, commerce and popular culture around the world. In 2013, we teamed up with key new business partners, formed a new legal entity (LensCulture, Inc.), and re-envisioned and rebuilt the web platform to world-class status, from the ground up, while retaining all content from 2004 through the present. Today, LensCulture reaches a monthly global audience of more than 3 million through its website, social media and subscriber list. LensCulture is much more than an online magazine — it's a world-class resource and platform for discovering and sharing the best in contemporary photography through multiple online initiatives, events and activities around the world. LensCulture grants several international photography awards each year (in excess of which have boosted the careers of hundreds of photographers. We are actively involved in online education — providing personal written critiques for thousands of photographers in more than 140 countries. We publish best-selling photography books, curate exhibitions at key locations around the world, and partner with more than 50 international photography festivals on five continents to promote outstanding photographers and photography. As an active member in the contemporary photography world, LensCulture collaborates in formal partnerships to develop and promote important international photography events, exhibitions, conferences and cutting-edge educational initiatives. In addition to my work at LensCulture, I curate arts exhibitions, write about photography and culture for magazines and books, lecture, serve as an international juror and portfolio reviewer, and serve as an advisor to arts and education organizations.
