NEWSFLASH: CIRCA is a partner in the LANDMARK project, which has recently won funding from the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme in the area of Sustainable Food Security (Societal Challenge 2). The LANDMARK project is coordinated by Rachel Creamer of Teagasc, Johnstown Castle, Wexford. Jim Codd of CIRCA is looking after contractual and financial issues for this project. LANDMARK is a pan-European multi-actor consortium of leading academic and applied research institutes, chambers of agriculture and policy-makers that will develop a coherent framework for soil management aimed at sustainable food production across Europe. The LANDMARK proposal builds on the concept that soils are a finite resource that provides a range of ecosystem services known as “soil functions” SUMMARY OF JIM CODD'S CAREER TO DATE: Jim Codd, associate director of CIRCA Group Europe, is an experienced Manager. He has over twenty years of management experience in the food industry where he was responsible for driving continuous change and improvement through multifunctional teams. He also has twenty years hands on experience of supporting all stages of the Framework Programmes (FP) of European research funding, including writing of applications, contract negotiations and project management. In the food industry his responsibilities have included Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Production Management and Innovation Support. He is currently acting as financial and administrative manager to FP7 and H2020 projects and supporting many other H2020 applications. He has recent experience as an expert FP evaluator for the European Commission. In addition he has extensive experience of the RTI programme of industrial research funding in Ireland both as an industrial applicant and as a technical expert evaluator. He also has also experience as a technical evaluator of the Commercialisation Fund for Enterprise Ireland.
