About Jim Cooper
A background in animal physiology. Started cell culture through patient cellular immunology assays for the NHS. In the 1990s tissue typing for bone marrow and liver transplants in Birmingham and then to ECACC establishing EBV transformed cell lines and cultivating novel deposits of cell lines from many sources and testing their authenticity. After an enjoyable interlude teaching Secondary Science I returned to the bench working in large scale cell culture and process development. For 10 years I managed internal and external development projects. Recently I have moved into from a commercial business development role to join the PHE Culture Collections' Scientific Development Group and the Brooke Lab in Southampton University where I gained my PhD focussing on 3D cell culture and gene expression analysis.
