About Jim Demay

I began my career as a volunteer at the Medical Responder (MR) level in 2004. I attended East Carolina University to obtain a degree in Parks and Recreation Management, and while enrolled I completed both my EMT and Paramedic certification courses. I completed a 4-month internship with the NC State Parks at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area working with the park rangers learning about their roles and responsibilities including their law enforcement and natural resource responsibilities. I was able to work the summer prior and complete 100 hours of ride time with several officers. Upon graduation I began working for Harnett County EMS and then Sampson County EMS. I worked as a Paramedic from 2010 until 2022. In 2016 I began my career in education teaching continuing education courses for Sampson Community College. I taught my first paramedic class in 2017 and became the full-time lead instructor/clinical coordinator for Sampson CC in 2019. During that time, I obtained my Associates in Applied Science in Emergency Medical Sciences. I was promoted to Director of Public Safety Training in 2021 where I currently oversee the EMS certification, fire/rescue certification, and law enforcement in-service training programs.
