About Jim Gilbert

After working for myself in the Advertising industry for many years as a freelance commercial artist, designer, and creative art worker, a now-or-never moment approached: Starting a family had made me consider more, should I stick with the fickle creative route or change to something substantial more enduring? The pending arrival of a second son tipped the balance, and with the support of my wife, I used the last of our savings to enrol in an IT course. Many of my previous work contracts involved the technical side and it was something I’d enjoyed, so something in the world of tech made sense to me. Starting from scratch again I paid my dues on the helpdesk, as a field engineer, and support supervisor to my current role as IT Service Delivery Manager. All my various incarnations have shown me that I love process, from producing artwork, creating guidelines, troubleshooting problems, or designing workflows, even at home with a love of cooking it’s the recipe and process where I get the buzz. Top traits: I’m a conscientious, organised, methodical, reliable, practical, perfectionist.
