About Jim Hirsch
I began my work as Executive Director for Bright Promises Foundation in January, 2022. Prior to that, I worked in the arts my entire career as a professional musician, arts administrator and consultant. I served as Executive Director of the Old Town School of Folk Music from During my tenure at OTS the organization's budget increased from to over $7 million and expanded to its current home in Lincoln Square. I then served as Executive Director of the Chicago Theatre (and Vice President of the Chicago Association for the Performing Arts) from and Executive Director of the Chicago Sinfonietta from 2004 - present. The Sinfonietta was selected in 2016 as one of only fourteen recipients of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, the genius award for organization. The organization was also selected to receive The Spirit Award by Chicago Innovation Week. Specialties: I have experience in non-profit management including overall institutional management, strategic planning, marketing and fundraising, and as a presenter for arts gatherings on a variety of subjects.
