About Jim Landefeld

Being a part of the designing, planning and building buildings is what I love and what I do. I love the building “process” more than anything else. Finding the efficiencies in the mundane but necessary processes allows you to spend more time on the important parts of building- quality, time and money. I can’t think of anything else I would like to do professionally with my life. Personally, my family (my wife, daughter and son) is the most important thing in my life. From my early days of building a new house for our family every several years with my dad (each one better than the previous one) and then in architecture school, there is nothing like seeing something come from initial concept through construction and then turnover. Early in my professional career while working for an architect who was a general contractor and a developer, I learned the entire process of “building” from start to finish. This experience and my desires at the time led me to gravitate towards the construction side of the “business”. Over the years and once my projects grew in complexity and size, I learned that there is nothing like building a team to tackle the building process. A team comprised of talented and gifted individuals each providing their own expertise and working together with a common goal- to build a structure that will stand as a testament for years to come. I love the process of developing the synergy within a team, and the feeling that goes along with it, that enables us to overcome obstacles. As I wrote following the completion of one of my most rewarding projects, “The greatest experience that I have in an on-going way is that of cooperation and teamwork. Every time I sit down with my team and work on a solution to a particular problem or discuss a certain way to accomplish a task, it is a great experience of working with talented and gifted people coming from different backgrounds and experiences, who work together with their own ideas in search of a successful solution to the issue. That is what I love about teamwork. Much can be performed with teamwork and cooperation.”
