Provide guidance, leadership, supervision, coaching, education, & set goals and objectives for the team. • Monitors & reviews the use and function of video surveillance systems and electronic access controls • Schedules and assures adequate coverage of security staff, as budgeted. • Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds. • Reports all security, safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections. Reports findings, in writing, to Supervisor and submits appropriate work orders. • Provides and receives shift-to-shift report from/to security staff. Advise the team of any upcoming concerns, events, and/or emergency bulletins from local or county police, fire, ems, municipalities, or health care facilities. • Serves on the Patient Safety Committee, HICS Committee, Safety-Sub Committee Work Place Violence and other committees and task forces, as assigned, including task forces created by NJHA and/or HCANJ. • Works with Materials Management to collect Regulated Medical Waste data and file report from the vendor (pickup and delivery of medical waste). • Serves on Interdisciplinary Team for Safety rounds in regards to Fire Safety/Life Safety. • Conducts and provides written evaluation and trending of Fire Drills and Disaster Drills and reports findings to Patient Safety Committee, Safety Sub Committee, and maintains records of fire department responses. • Ensures staff education at General Orientation by reviewing fire safety, emergency response, active shooter, work place violence, and risk management. • Review and maintain the Environment of Care (EOC), Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), and the Emergency Operations Procedures flip charts as policy & procedure, as well as, regulation requires. • Sits on Joint Commission Group 1 team to provide insight to Life Safety concerns and regulations. • Maintains the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) • Develops and implements Key Control for staff keys and ensuring only authorized staff request and receive keys and electronic access.
