I accumulate intrusively, and non-intrusively, technical machine/motor/building data and interpret data for planning to prevent failure, and/or provide information for management to make replacement/upgrade decisions, and record such data in a history log (data base). While also communicating data with engineers, planners, maintenance coordinators, maintenance manager, on an ongoing basis. The science is colloquially known as predictive maintenance monitoring. Basically I do condition based monitoring of key equipment. Monitoring/testing is scheduled based on machine failure frequency history, and continuous monitoring may be required on some equipment when justified. Technologies that can be used are: Infrared thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing, motor signature analysis and circuit testing.
