About Jim Scott

Director of pre-freshman year empowerment program, Summer Advantage. We help incoming freshmen gain credits and confidence even before their first full semester begins. And it has proven to be very successful, for our students and our university. As director, I have overseen the marketing and development of Summer Advantage, as we have: Increased Summer Advantage enrollment by 150%. Achieved a 98% post-session approval rating from Summer Advantage participants. Created opportunities for incoming students to transition to college and empower themselves to get ahead and stay ahead in their academic careers. Not an "experience" or brief "orientation", Summer Advantage is a full 4-week pre-freshman advancement program exclusive to incoming freshmen, allowing them to earn 8 credits, make friends, work with top faculty and success professionals and empower themselves for success. In addition, I am a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice with a full class load in strategic marketing, public speaking, sport marketing and graduate classes. Plus, I am an award-winning broadcaster, public speaker, sales executive, strategic marketer, creative idea guru, and university professor, skilled in branding, marketing, strategic communication, and ideation with a successful track record of results for clients large and small. I create multimedia marketing and strategic branding campaigns, writing and producing audio, video and graphic commercials for all platforms, including television, online, digital, radio and print. Not only do I know about social media, I teach it. I show students how to leverage popular software programs, including the Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Audition, Premiere and more) to create compelling communication programs and peripherals. I also teach public speaking, audio production, sport marketing and mediated communication and, in the private sector, have used my management experience as a member of several boards of directors.
