About Jim Setzer

Having participated in Four Nuclear Sites during construction, Ten major Steam Generator Replacement projects, servicing both sides of the US Nuclear Fleet for PWR’s and BWR’s, I have been involved, working with and assisting in the development of Quality Assurance programs, and NDE examinations of nuclear and non-nuclear plant components, hydro and fossil plants as well. Entering the industry as a piping system layout designer/field engineer for Duke Energy, 8 years later I switched career paths into NDE or Non-Destructive Examinations. This has provided a wealth of experience both professionally and personally. Although enjoying semi-retirement in Montana, I would like to stay connected to the industry that has in all ways treated us so well. Willing to take on short or long term assignments in the field of Design Engineering/Construction or Quality Assurance. Worked for GE Hitachi servicing the BWR fleet of reactors, allowed me to stay in touch with critical industry issues and advancements. Working with GEH has provide me with an opportunity to work with some of the most knowledgeable personnel in the NDE industry. Worked with Steam Generator Team replacing steam generators in the PWR fleet of reactors and involved in all aspects of program development from ASME Section II, V, IX and XI and AWS D1.1 Worked with the research staff at Force Institutes using the PScan Automated UT inspection system. A truly remarkable inspection platform capable of meeting many application needs within the nuclear field as well of other industry. They are only limited by our imagination. A R&D opportunity to validate the capability of EMATS at the EPRI NDE Center was a most meaningful experience as well. Working with such a staff was lifetime learning moment.
