Jim Starks is president of J. Starks Consulting offering risk management consulting in the death care profession.With over 40 years experience in the funeral profession. A lifelong death care professional, he earned his expertise in operations management as president of Kerley & Starks Funeral Homes handling over 600 yearly calls with 75 employees working in multiple funeral homes and cemeteries, a crematory and vault manufacturing company. His experience in risk management began as director of compliance for Prime Succession, where he was responsible for over 130 funeral homes, and vice president of compliance and operation support at Keystone Group Holdings, where he was responsible for over 200 locations in the US and Canada. Starks is a licensed funeral director in Michigan and Indiana and an ICCFA Certified Crematory Operator. He is a graduate of ICCFAU and Mid-America College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis. He holds a bachelor of science in business administration from University of Wyoming. Starks has been a professor of the College of Cremation Services for eight years and dean of college for four years. He has spoken at the annual ICCFA meeting and at national, state and regional meetings in the death care profession. He’s a monthly contributor in the NOMIS publication.
