About Jim Wehner

I want to see people flourish. For the past 20 years, I have had the honor of being rooted in Historic South Atlanta alongside some of the most committed people in the world. As President of Focused Community Strategies, I bring together neighbors, private and public partners, and lead an incredible team of 50+ staff as we work together to create equitable, mixed-income neighborhoods. My deepest passions when it comes to place-based community development work are: Creating inclusive mixed-income housing Leveraging local economies to sow vitality for all neighbors Reweaving the relational connections that make a neighborhood feel like home. Prioritizing diversity in our team and among our partners as a means of strengthening this work. The transformation FCS has nurtured alongside neighbors is possible for every community in America - even if the nuts and bolts will vary by neighborhood. That’s why I prioritize taking the time to support and consult other organizations and next-generation leaders who want to do this work. We all need a thought partner when it comes to best practices. I am grateful for the people whose wisdom has guided and encouraged me over the years. I hope to be that voice for others in critical moments, too. And outside of that - you can find me running the trails around Atlanta or lurking at my favorite Mexican space, pretending I can handle more spice than I actually can.
