About Jo Amand

Led by my values and beliefs, I strive to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people, particularly those who are constrained by circumstance. I love developing and leading people, challenging them to grow and encouraging those around me to be the best they can be.My career path began when I was 15 years old and started volunteering at a youth project for my Duke of Edinburgh Award. This experience shaped my personal and professional mission; to help people access the tools, services and support they need and to create opportunities for improved life experiences and outcomes. Through school and college, I had many roles working with children and young people, later qualifying as a youth and community worker and gaining experience in local authority youth services. Joining The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award charity in 2007 marked a key point in my career, where I honed the four value propositions that continue to guide my work today:– Being a visionary, transformational leader who can build authentic, constructive relationships and inspire others. An exceptional communicator, I successfully engage with a broad spectrum of service users, stakeholders and supporters. – Amplifying performance by driving quality and delivering excellence, holding myself and others accountable to the highest standards.– Putting in place robust governance frameworks and ensuring awareness of, and compliance with, policies and obligations around safeguarding and data protection, Equality Act legislation and Charity Commission regulations.– Equipping people with the right tools to get a job done through designing, introducing or re-engineering systems, procedures, policies and practices. With an eye for detail and passionate about quality, I’m known for creating “Jocesses” – streamlined processes that simplify ways of thinking and working, improve efficiency and strengthen organisational effectiveness. I’m equally known for my natural ability to connect with people and my commitment to their development.
