About Jo Bailey

Currently I am a senior lecturer in the school of design at Massey University. I teach across years and across the programme, in areas such as typography, editorial design, experience design and spatial typography. I am also a PhD student at Victoria University of Wellington working in the field of science communication. As a designer my practice focuses on facilitating and democratising access to information. I have a research interest in communicating science, environmental and social issues, particularly in the digital space, and also an editorial design practice. My background includes extensive desk based research and information management experience in the non-profit sector, with an emphasis on website content management and usability. I managed information systems for WWF-UK and Surf Life Saving New Zealand, and have consulted for a variety of non-profits. I have a degree in Geography (as well as a Masters degree in Design) and an interest in sustainability, the built environment, and the personal ethics of design practice.
