About Jo Clay

As Head of Training and Development at Women's Aid Federation England I provide strategic leadership overseeing the development and delivery of accredited training and education at Women’s Aid. I manage a high-performing team of training specialists (internal and external) to ensure quality, responsive delivery across multiple contracts, supported by robust assurance frameworks. I work collaboratively across Business Development, Fundraising, and Senior Leadership to secure new income streams and drive organisational sustainability. As a recognised practice expert, I lead on negotiating new business opportunities and shaping policy responses where professional training and skills development influence national service standards. Passionate about continuous learning, I spearhead Women’s Aid’s ambition to be the sector leader in specialist domestic abuse education. Before this, I founded and led an award winning social enterprise, Empower - Be The Change. Over the course of 8 years, the team empowered over people through accredited leadership training, 1-1 coaching and personal development programmes. Qualified to level 7 in leadership and coaching I utilised this knowledge and experience to set Empower up as a recognised accredited leadership qualification centre.
