About Jo Orange

I work at the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) where I hold the position of Senior Digital Accessibility Specialist, in the Digital Accessibility Team. My focus is on digital accessibility project work, and I have over 20 years of experience in this field. I am passionate about providing a great web user experience to our users and I have an excellent knowledge of and understanding of accessibility, the New Zealand Government Web Standards, WCAG, and digital technologies and trends. Since January 2020 I have been focused on implementing the Accessibility Charter at MSD, which involves a broad programme of work from web accessibility audits to building organisational capability through digital accessibility education and training sessions, as well as working with Disabled Persons Organisations (DPOs) and across government agencies to promote and drive Accessibility Charter adoption. Specialties: Online and digital project work including web accessibility, web standards and compliance, usability, testing, procedures and scoping documents, web writing/content, information architecture, and intranets.
