About Jo Wakeham

The majority of my working career has been based around the hospitality industry, but in more recent years this is evolving into vocational education. My customer service experience covers from receptionist to bar and restaurant management, giving me a very real grasp of the nuances and essential attributes needed, whilst building significant levels of transferable skills. In my experience, the key elements and areas of focus to a successfully run establishment are the following; High level customer service standards Understanding your clientele Recognising and delivering the USP Clear communication Effective/accurate marketing strategies. From a professional perspective I have worked at prioritising these key aspects within my own skill set. A large proportion of my other work based experience centres around education, whilst working in a predominantly voluntary capacity. The main areas I have covered are secondary school level art, alongside mixed age and ability sports within various types of organisations through to TEFL and marine conservation. In more recent times my focus has lead me towards empowering others through knowledge and compassion for the natural world. Working closely with children in Alternative Education Provisions for the last year has been a wonderful experience and one I hope to continue. The subject that I am most passionate about is raising marine conservation awareness, with a particular focus on the coastal environment.
