About Joan Baucom

I started my career in the field of cytology. In 2004 I changed careers to become self-employed in the area of home renovation. I found the field of cancer registry in 2011. It's a perfect fit with my background in a cancer related field. The cancer registry collects data on every cancer case that is diagnosed or treated at a facility. It's required by law to report these cases to the states and to the National Cancer Database. I am currently the manager over several cancer registries in Alabama, Illinois, Texas and one facility in New York. I have seen the devastating affect Alzheimer's has on it's victims and I know way too many people who's mom or dad have had Alzheimer's. I know the toll it can take on the caregivers. It robs caregivers of time, energy, and money. But most of all it robs the caregivers of the person they once new. Alzheimer's robs the patients of memories and personalities. A striking thought about this devastating disease is that you won't hear a survivor tell their story. There are no survivors. As you can tell, I'm very driven to make a difference in raising awareness and raising funds for Alzheimer's research. Alzheimer's Research & Care Society has very little overhead. Therefore, most of the funds raised go more directly to leading researchers throughout the world. To learn more about it please visit ALZARCS.ORG
