About Joan Bohan

My curiosity about the world set me on a rewarding international path & passion for social innovation. Today my overarching goal is to bring systemic Social Innovation to business, an approach with meets the needs of ALL stakeholders – customers, employees, communities & shareholders – and gives rise to innovative products and experiences while leveraging diversity. The journey, from KPMG Los Angeles to The Walt Disney Company France, has taken me far and wide: • A diverse & rewarding commercial finance career at Disney spanning numerous Entertainment Industry segments: Theatrical Distribution, Film Acquisitions, and Consumer Products • A multitude of offices, markets and business models, partnering alongside inspiring leaders • The culmination of these experiences, coupled with a personal challenge, led to my greatest accomplishment and a new career path which started out as a side gig in Social Innovation Where I bring the most value is federating individuals thanks to the genuine relationships I have cultivated. Through my enthusiasm, I motivate teams and co-workers to turn over the stones, strive for their goals and to believe in themselves. I have a strong growth mindset: for me the glass is at least half full and challenges are an opportunity to problem solve. My multicultural sensibilities have been a great asset, enabling bridge building and making me a better leader. I had the opportunity to hone these skills when I launched my social Innovation initiative which arose outside my area of expertise and comfort zone. In 2015, I had the privilege of embarking on a social intrapreneurship journey affording me the opportunity to take a personal challenge – my son’s struggle with Dyslexia – and channel into a business opportunity at Disney. An experience which has a profound effect on me personally and professionally. The outcome of this project – for the business and my professional development – made clear that meeting underserved needs and tapping underrepresented talent leads to BOTH societal impact and business growth.#socialinnovation #sharedvalue #inclusive #stakeholdercapitalism
