About Joan Healy

As Assistant General Counsel, Joan has provided legal guidance for healthcare operations for over twenty years. During her tenure she has been responsible for creating strategies in collaboration with Novant Health leaders to partner with independent physician practices while navigating the complex health care regulatory environment. She serves as the lead attorney supporting all Novant Health hospital presidents and physician leaders in developing their facility-based physician contracting strategy. She maintains specific accountability across the 13 Novant Health acute care facilities for exclusive professional service, call coverage and medical director agreements. Joan has recently assumed responsibilities system wide for the legal component of physician joint ventures and co-management agreements. The 2016 creation of the regional partnership, Novant Health UVA Health System, expanded her role into the Northern Virginia market. In this market she provides direct legal services, coordinates outside counsel and assists with corporate governance issues.
