I am Joana, an accomplished Clinical Pathology Manager with a strong background in Histopathology, currently leading the Anatomical Pathology and Morgue Division at Sidra Medicine. With over two decades of experience in the healthcare industry, I've had the privilege of working in renowned institutions across Portugal, UK and Qatar, gaining valuable experience in diagnostic, research, and industry roles. I consistently strive for excellence in everything I do. I have a deep passion for my work and a relentless drive to keep learning, which has allowed me to stay at the forefront of advancements in my field. One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been the opportunity to lead and manage teams. Witnessing the growth and success of the Biomedical Scientists who have worked under my guidance brings me immense pleasure. Notable achievements in my career include participation in a prestigious in-house leadership course developed with Sidra Medicine and Harvard Business School. I was honored with the Best Student Award in my cohort, which granted me the privilege of attending a course at Harvard Business School in 2019. Beyond my expertise in healthcare, I've discovered a keen interest in marketing and digital marketing during my Executive MBA studies. My adaptability and versatility have allowed me to excel in diverse fields. As a leader I consider myself flexibel and adapt to change seamlessly. I particularly like to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds, understanding different cultures, and appreciating the nuances of various personalities. Outside of work, I am an avid sports enthusiast with a deep love for everything related to sports. On a daily basis, you'll find me swimming, running, and cycling, ensuring that fitness is an integral part of my routine. I also enjoy practicing yoga, pilates, and functional training to stay well-rounded in my approach. I also have a passion for water sports. As a certified diver, I explore the depths of the ocean, and I have proficiency in wakesurfing and wakeboarding, appreciating the adrenaline rush on the water. I've also had incredible experiences with windsurfing, kitesurfing and paddle boarding. In addition to sports, I hold certifications through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, which has deepened my appreciation for the art of winemaking and the diversity of flavors.
