About Joanna Gustafsson
I work at Destination Östersund with sustainable strategies and plans for the destination as well as event and experience development within the project Better Tourism - Data-driven and sustainable development. Between 2023-2026, I have a strong focus on measuring and evaluating the destination using the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDSI) based on four areas and around 75 indicators linked to Agenda 2030 and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council's (GSTC) criteria. In the spring of 2024, I read the Systematic Sustainability Work for Destinations course at Academy Båstad. In April 2024, I completed the GSTC training for Sustainable Tourism in connection with their world congress in Stockholm. Since 2022, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Science from Mid Sweden University, shaped by my interest in sustainable destination development. I wrote my thesis on sustainable tools for destination development through a case study of Östersund.
