About Joanna Joseph

I am a Systems Engineer with proficiency in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of experience in the energy and environmental industry. My academic and professional journey has helped me create avenues for the adaption and integration of sustainable technologies into conventional industries. I aspire to use my education to facilitate the adoption of sustainable technologies through analytics, statistics and estimation. I work at the Disruption Lab in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona, under the guidance of Dr. Alejandro Salado. I specialize in research focused on theoretical foundations of systems engineering in the context of verification and human cognition. My work is inter-disciplinary and lies in the intersection between systems science and engineering, psychology, cognitive science, and philosophy. I am keen to hone my skills and add to the body of systems engineering knowledge through my research. I believe in the value of adding to the theoretical foundations of System Engineering, while creating frameworks for adoption by practitioners. In addition to research, I am developing my teaching skills through active teaching experience as well as certified pedagogical and education research. I am competent in problem definition, requirements engineering, model-based systems engineering, decision analysis, verification, validation, and energy systems
