About Joanna Minta

I'm a social pedagog, counsellogist and career counsellor. As a researcher and practitioner I specialize in lifelong career counselling for about 14 years. I am the Associate Professor (Adiunct) in The Department of Social Pedagogy and Counsellogy at The Faculty of Education, University of Lower Silesia. My research interests concern the social policy of labour market, lifelong career counselling, vocational education, and, particularly, career constructing and transitions. In my career I have been working on various research and education projects related to career counselling, namely the career counsellors working methods, the quality of diagnostic tools and vocational information. My research experience is mainly related to qualitative research paradigm. I am well-experienced in biographical research, applying the narrative interview method and qualitative data analysis (collection and analysis of biographical interviews for her doctoral thesis; present project for CEDEFOP: Narrative of career/labour market related learning of low-skilled workers. As an academic teacher I train and prepare the future career counsellors and social workers to their professional life. I am the supervisor and tutor of the specialization: Vocational counselling and the development of career at the bachelor’s degree of pedagogy studies. I am also a manager and the co-author of the program of the postgraduate studies for career counsellors, called: Lifelong educational and vocational counselling. I am an experienced trainer and career counsellor who has combined counselling practice with research on it for many years. I co-operated with the Department of Labour Market in the Polish Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, National Centre for Supporting Vocational and Continuing Education [KOWEZiU]; Lower-Silesian Province Labour Office and other institutions as researcher and trainer.
