About Joanna Potts

I began my career in Aviation, primarily Business Aviation (20 yrs), where I led the day-to-day operations of an FBO in the North East of England. I left aviation and started working for National Highways in January 2022. Firstly, I worked in Commercial and Procurement, working alongside a team of Quantity Surveyors assessing the company's & shareholders' assets and their management. I quickly realised Highways core values Teamwork, Passion, Integrity, Ownership & Safety resonated with me and hungry for more, I commenced an 18-month secondment opportunity within Safety Engineering & Standards, working on the Be The Change Cultural and Behavioural Change Programme, a large, complex culture change programme being rolled out and endorsed by National Highways which gave me the ability to work in an agile way across the entire organisation and I gained further skills within the project management umbrella. With a hunger for promotion and a desire to stay in the Human-Centred design realm, I moved into a Jr Service Designer role within Digital Services, in October 24 which is where I am now. I am also working towards a professional diploma in UX Design at the UX Design Institute alongside my full-time career. Keen photographer and videographer in my spare time. You will often find me playing with the latest gadget and digitally manipulating images and videos. I am a keen car enthusiast, albeit I currently drive an EV (don't tell Clarkson!) and I am partial to 72 laps of F1 on a Sunday afternoon.
