About Joanne Huckle

Joanne is the Head of Investment Funds at Ogier, leading their global investment funds team from the Cayman Islands. Joanne is described in the legal directories as a "sharp and commercial" lawyer and "an expert in the funds space.""She is one who will rise through the ranks quickly", notes Chambers and Partners, 2018; her promotion to the partnership in 2017 made her the youngest partner to have been made up in Ogier's history. She now heads the investment funds team which includes teams in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Joanne advises open-ended and closed-ended hedge funds and private equity funds, investment managers, institutional investors and fund service providers on fund structuring, restructurings, launches, ongoing legal and regulatory compliance and termination. Whilst some of her clients rank amongst the largest managers in the world, she also regularly advises emerging managers and start-up spin-offs. Joanne has also become 'go to' counsel for a broad spectrum of financial institutions; she is a Cayman regulatory expert, leading Ogier's investment funds regulatory practice. Joanne is a member of Cayman Finance's AML sub-committee, she sits on the legislative drafting sub-committee for exempted limited partnerships, and she is a member of the 100 Women in Finance Education Commitee Board. Through these organizations Joanne engages with the Regulator and the Government on existing and impending legislation. Joanne is an avid speaker at, and organizer of, industry panels and events. Joanne originally trained as a corporate M&A attorney in London and has also worked in Hong Kong and in-house at Lloyds Banking Group. Joanne obtained her law degree (Jurisprudence) at Oxford University (Pembroke College) and received a distinction in the legal practice course.
