About Joanne Olson
My research focuses on the development of science teachers' decision-making, and practices in science teacher education programs that promote improved decision-making. A second area of research is focused on the impact of policy on science teachers' classroom practices. I am a former President of the Association for Science Teacher Education: My recent books include:"On Knowing: The Social Sciences" by Richard McKeon (D. B. Owen, J. K. Olson, Eds.) ISBN 978-0-226-34021-0 and "The Nature of Technology: Implications for Learning and Teaching" ISBN 978-94-6209-267-9. I teach courses in elementary and secondary science methods, advanced pedagogy, instruction theory, curriculum theory, and how people learn/implications for teaching science.
