About Joanne Symcox

I serve as the Director of Schools for a PreK-8 public charter school. Prior to serving as the DoS I was the Principal for the 2021-22 and the 2022-23 school years. During my tenure, I have developed a three-year strategic plan for teacher professional development to increase student academic growth, implemented a results-focused curriculum framework, facilitated schoolwide professional development, and established Professional Learning Communities. In addition to my work in curriculum development and professional learning, I have successfully secured over $1.7 million in grant funding for the school district. I also have oversight of all building operations, fiscal management, human resources, transportation, and food services. My educational journey includes a recent Educational Specialist Certificate in Curriculum and Instruction from Oakland City University, along with a Building Level Administrator License from the same institution. I also hold a Master of Science in Special Education and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, as well as an Associate of Arts in Psychology from Broward College in Florida.
