About Joaquin Smith

I am an Associate at Piper Alderman in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation Practice. My legal career is focused on large-scale class actions and commercial litigation against large corporations, governments and similar entities on behalf of clients. This has resulted with involvement in a diverse range of matters, including contract disputes, competition claims and constructive trusts, to name a few. I am now completing a Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of Melbourne with a focus on dispute resolution and litigation, competition law and corporate law, which I intend to complete in late 2026. Previously, I earned a Bachelor of Laws (Hons 2A) from the Queensland University of Technology, shortly followed by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law, in 2022. Following conferral of those qualifications, I was admitted to legal practice by the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2022. I was subsequently granted admission to the High Court of Australia in 2022. In addition to my legal credentials, I hold a Bachelor of Business (Management and Economics) from the Queensland University of Technology, which was awarded in 2019. My passion for the law, coupled with my commitment to achieving the highest standards of legal practice, drives me to excel in every aspect of my legal career.
